Payment Policy

Last updated : Feb 2026

1. INTRODUCTION

These Terms & Conditions govern all payments made to the Paediatric Society (the “Society”) for annual membership fees and conference registrations. By proceeding with any payment, the payer confirms that they have read, understood, and agreed to these Terms & Conditions in full.

2. NATURE OF SERVICES

The Society provides professional membership services and access to educational conferences, seminars, and related professional events. All registrations and memberships are personal and non-transferable unless expressly stated otherwise in writing by the Society. Membership is open only to Paediatricians working in Mauritius and who are registered as such at the Medical Council of Mauritius.

3. PAYMENT METHODS

The Society accepts online card payments (Visa, Mastercard, American Express) via secure hosted checkout, and Bank App / QR payments including (where available): JUICE, MauCass, MyT Money, Blink, Pop, SBM Tag. All online payment methods are presented and technically managed through the Society’s secure payment platform operated by MIPS. The Society remains the Merchant of Record for all transactions.

4. STRICT NO-REFUND POLICY

All payments made to the Society are strictly non-refundable, non-cancellable, and final. Once payment has been successfully processed, no refunds, cancellations, credit notes, or partial refunds will be issued under any circumstances.

5. NO SUBSTITUTION POLICY

Conference registrations are strictly personal. Substitution of participants is not permitted. The individual named at the time of registration is the only person entitled to attend.

6. BANK TRANSFERS (DISCOURAGED)

Direct bank transfers to the Society’s bank account are strongly discouraged. Bank transfers require manual identification and reconciliation and may not be automatically matched to a specific registration. Any bank transfer is made entirely at the payer’s own risk. Unless explicitly agreed in writing in advance, a bank transfer does not constitute confirmed registration or membership, may be treated as a voluntary donation, and does not confer membership rights or conference access.

7. CHARGEBACKS AND DISPUTES

By completing a payment, the payer acknowledges that the transaction is authorised and final. In the event of a chargeback or dispute, the Society may provide these Terms & Conditions and payment confirmations as evidence. The Society may suspend or revoke membership or event access pending resolution. Administrative and chargeback fees imposed by financial institutions may be recoverable where legally permitted.

8. FORCE MAJEURE

The Society shall not be liable for failure or delay caused by events beyond its reasonable control, including natural disasters, public health emergencies, government restrictions, or civil unrest. The Society may reschedule events, modify format (including virtual delivery), or adjust programme content as necessary. No refunds shall be issued due to force majeure events.

9. PROGRAMME CHANGES

The Society reserves the right to modify conference programmes, change speakers, adjust schedules, or change venues within reasonable limits. Such changes shall not constitute grounds for refund.

10. LIMITATION OF LIABILITY

To the maximum extent permitted under the laws of the Republic of Mauritius, the Society shall not be liable for indirect or consequential damages. Total liability shall not exceed the amount paid for the relevant membership or registration.

11. DATA PROTECTION

Personal data is handled in accordance with the Data Protection Act 2017 of Mauritius. Card payment data is processed through regulated financial institutions and is not stored by the Society.

12. GOVERNING LAW

These Terms & Conditions are governed by the laws of the Republic of Mauritius. Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the Courts of Mauritius.

13. ENTIRE AGREEMENT

These Terms & Conditions constitute the entire agreement between the payer and the Society regarding membership and conference registration payments. If any provision is held invalid, the remaining provisions shall remain in full force and effect.
